Exploration Space: Home

A guide to the services of the Galvin Library's Exploration Space, a makerspace that includes 3D printers, vinyl cutters, and button makers for the IIT community to use.

The Exploration Space

The Exploration Space is on the lower level of the library, near the group study suites, and is open to anyone with an active IIT library account. The Exploration Space currently contains:

  • Two 3D printers. The cost is $.10 per gram, including any necessary supporting structures. Items must be paid for before they can be picked up.
  • A Silhouette CAMEO 3 electronic cutter. The cost to use it is free. You must bring your own materials. Acceptable materials include: vinyl, paper, and cardstock.
  • Two button-making machines, one for 2.25 inch buttons and one for 1 inch buttons (for in-library use only). A kit containing all of the parts needed to make 50 buttons costs $5, and can be ordered through our online store
