At the Illinois Tech Career Fairs, you are fortunate to have a variety of companies visit each year among all the major industries. As an attendee, you have the option to pick and choose who you can meet with and ultimately who may be a good fit for you both personally and professionally.
You want to make sure you stand out and be remembered by these companies. There is nothing more impressive to a company than a candidate that is knowledgeable about the company/industry and can hold an intellectual conversation related to the company/industry.
Career Services surveys company representatives after each Career Fair and companies have reported that they would like students to have more knowledge about the industry they are involved in, and particularly about the firm that the representatives are hiring for. Remember that a conversation at a Career Fair is a pre-interview and you should show up prepared to talk about the industry you want to work in.
This guide can serve as a way to help you learn more about your industry and be successful in your career search.
