If you need a scanned copy of something that the Galvin Library owns, you can have a PDF sent to you using the library's Scan and Deliver service. For example, when searching for an article in the library's catalog, you may find that an online version is not available because the library owns the journal volume in print. Our Interlibrary Loan staff can scan the article for you so you may still obtain it in an electronic format.
The Interlibrary Loan department will follow standard copyright guidelines when fulfilling Scan and Deliver requests depending on the type of library material. View the Scan and Deliver FAQ below for more information.
Scan and Deliver services are available to Faculty, Staff, and Students of IIT including affiliates of the Chicago-Kent School of Law. Affiliates of VanderCook College of Music are not eligible to submit Scan and Deliver requests.
Interlibrary Loan staff will process three Scan and Deliver request per day per patron, but patrons may submit as many requests as they want at a time.
In compliance with copyright guidelines, no more than 1 chapter or 10% of a print book or journal volume will be scanned for a single Scan and Deliver request.
Interlibrary Loan Staff will endeavor to fulfill Scan and Deliver requests within three business days, and requests may often be fulfilled even quicker.
If you have a need for special accommodations, please contact the ILL department.
Scan quality will be at least 300 DPI depending on the level of detail in the requested material, and will be grayscale by default. Higher resolutions or color scans can be accommodated upon request.
