Checking Things Out: Fines and Lost Item Fees

Everything you need to know when checking out books, laptops, movies, or anything else from the Galvin Library.

What To Do If You Have A Fine

You may be charged a late fine if certain items are not returned on time, or if an item that you have checked out becomes damaged or lost.

See below for details concerning fines and fees. Remember that you are responsible for keeping track of your items' due dates; while you will receive email reminders of due dates, it's up to you to know when to return your library items.

Library fines and fees must be paid online. No cash, check, or card payments are accepted at the Circulation Desk. We encourage you to contact the Circulation Desk before paying your fines to verify that the amount of the charge is correct.

Follow the link below to pay your fine through TouchNet. When the amount of your fine is verified, you can select the appropriate category and pay.

Fine Policies

Overdue fines are charged to encourage the prompt return of popular materials.

Books in the library's main Circulating and Leisure Reading collection do not accumulate late fines; however, if they are overdue for long enough, your library account will be billed for their replacement fee.

Your account will be blocked if you have total fines and fees in excess of $50.00, but you may remove the block by paying enough to bring your total below $50.00.

For more information about fines and fees, please view the library's Fines and Fees Policy.
