The use of artificial intelligence tools in conducting research or writing up the results is still very much an ethical grey area. As of this writing (April 2023) Illinois Tech does not have any policies on the use of AI in research. However, many publishers do have policies on the use of AI in writing up research. Publisher policy on the use of generative AI is constantly changing and varies widely form one publisher to the next or even one journal to the next. Researchers interested in publishing work aided by generative AI should consult with their publisher regarding the use of those tools.
