SOC 311: Social Use of Space

For this assignment, you'll want to find a creative place. Your professor has already given you some ideas of places to start in your assignment information, but just to review, consider:

• What types of organizations might want a creative-enhancing space? Think beyond just Google - are there other major corporations that have creative campuses?
• What about universities or research institutions? Why might they want a creativity-enhancing space? Where might that be on-campus?
• What kinds of disciplines might want a creative space - are there companies who might provide a space for people in this field to enhance their creativity?

Once you have some initial ideas, it's time to do some initial searching. For this, it's perfectly okay to use Google or Wikipedia, but consider what other sources might have information about this topic - is there a news source who might be interested in this topic?

Pro-tip: If you can find a scholarly article that evaluates creative-enhancing spaces, it may contain specific examples of places that were included in the study, giving you some initial places to start. See the tab "Find Articles" for article-searching tips.
